Use Your Gifts To Serve
TREM Devotional – Use Your Gifts To Serve
Wisdom For The Day Devotional By Bishop Mike Okonkwo: Use Your Gifts To Serve
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (KJV)
God has given you a variety of abilities, talents, potential, and treasures for the good of those around you. Your gift is not for your own use; rather, God desires for everyone to gain from His investment in you. It’s for other people’s good.
“Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So, if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” (Romans 12:3-8 NLT)
You see, everyone has a function to play, and everyone playing their given roles is the only way we can make the most of God’s gifts so that we might be powerful collectively. Never adopt the mindset of “I have arrived” when it comes to kingdom matters. Never stop serving God because you feel you have done enough.
When you fail to serve, you rob yourself of the blessing attached to that service. Jesus said, “If any man serve me, let him follow me;… him will my Father honour.” (John 12:26 KJV).
I encourage you today to arise from your comfort zone and begin to serve. It will bless you. There is honour in serving and in the words of Jesus, the Father will honour you.
1 Corinthians 12:1-31
